I don't think you can quantify it like that. The subject isn't that clear cut. As you are able to see in the many threads where this is widely discussed. Better picture/ more detail/ more crosstalk/ brighter pictures/better glasses etc. Much to discuss between the two. I just think that since 3D as a novelty, even though a nice one at that, is more accessible with simpler, lighter, cheaper polarising glasses.

But then again when I watch Avatar 3D in Full HD on my Sony HX903 I really appreciate the extra detail. Side by side is what the Xbox 360 uses correct? And the PS3 uses full 3d. Am I right in saying that the ps3 using the same content as the 360 would produce less crosstalk and a sharper picture in comparison to the Xbox? Also the polarised glasses is what you would use in the cinema isn't it? Elementary Statistics Larson Pdf. Is it just a case of no flicker with these glasses or do they produce a much better 3d experience.

I'm asking because why would all these tv companys choose to go the active route rather than the cheaper but possibly better polarised option. The PS3 version should technically look better, but neither of those consoles have many games at full 1080p resolution anyway. Take Black Ops for example, the resolution of the 360 version is higher than that of the PS3 due to poor porting, I'd wager it'd be very hard to spot a difference between the two (I've only tried the 360 with Black Ops and it looked very nice, not a lot different from the normal game apart from the darkness associated with 3D glasses. The only comparison I have of side by side vs full 3D is with Avatar and there's no question that the full 3D blu ray is better than the Sky 3D option - crisper and more detailed image, more pop to the 3D.

But the Sky 3D picture isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, I think you'd need to compare the two one after another to really notice. In the case of comparing Avatar SBS to the 3D Blu-Ray, you'd expect the Blu-Ray to be better even if both were SBS because of increased data rate and lack of PAL speedup, among other issues. Not to say that full resolution 3D isn't better. My own opinion is that if the source is of higher quality, it'll probably end up being better no matter how you display it. So there is no question that a full 1080p frame sequential 3D signal is capable of much higher quality than SBS, but it's how that translates to the setup on which the content is then watched. So whilst frame sequential (or full 3D or whatever you want to call it) offers potentially better quality, I would probably still rather watch it (judging from current consumer display technology, at any rate) on a lower resolution passive (FPR) 3D system as I find this more comfortable to watch.
